What is ‘The PTFA”?
The PTFA is the ‘Parent Teachers and Friends Association’ at Husborne Crawley Lower School. All parents and staff are automatically considered to be members of the PTFA, and we have annually elected representatives (Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Newsletter Editor) who are instrumental in organising fund-raising events for the school. Please contact the school office to be put in touch with one of our elected officers.
What do we do?
The PTFA do a brilliant job in raising lots of money to support and enhance the children’s education at our school. As well as this, it is a chance for parents to meet and get to know each other, and for families to socialise together.
What events do we organise?
Examples of our annual events are:
•Fancy dress disco with great music, pizza and glow sticks
•Film Nights with popcorn and pizza
•Mufti-Days; the children wear non-uniform
•Parent assembly coffee mornings
•Summer Fete
•Christmas Fete
•The wonderful annual school calendar created by one of our mums.
How is the money spent?
The PTFA fundraising pays for extra resources and school trips which otherwise would prove prohibitively expensive.
Here is an outline of what the money was spent on in calendar year 2017:
•Two digital screens replacing old whiteboards, as part of our “Pay for a Pixel” campaign.
•Three coach trips; including to Milton Keynes Museum to learn about the Victorians
•Year 4 Leavers’ Party
•The retirement part for our previous Head Teacher Mrs Isaacs
•Membership to the PTA and MK Play Association
•£300 pounds towards school supplies – £100 for each classroom
•New storage for PTFA supplies
•The wonderful annual trip to the Christmas Pantomime
We are currently fundraising for a refurbishment of our library; redecoration, new books and games and possibly a sensory area too.
Our campaign “Liven up our Library” has already started and we hope to have enough money to complete this project by the end of this school year.
New fundraising ideas are always welcome. We publish dates of future PTFA meetings on the school calendar and also in the school newsletter.
We are always really pleased to see new faces, please come along if you can!
We provide the drinks and the biscuits.
